MEET CARL CREATOR OF THE BRICK BUD
Carl was a bricklayer for over 27 years until a wall that he had braced in the same manner as he had done so for all those years collapsed on him. The wall that fell on Carl was braced with a piece of timber, which is a pretty standard practice across the country and is classed as temporary works. These methods of bracing, however, are unreliable when supporting incomplete walls against high winds.
This leads to millions of bricks and thousands of hours of work being lost annually due to walls blowing over, and of course can also lead to serious injuries on site as Carl unfortunately can attest to.
